We have just passed the one week mark of being on Whole30. I started having cravings on day 1 so it has been a tough week for me. Brian on the other hand has been handling it very well. He must be more mentally disciplined than me.
We are learning a lot. We both feel a lot better all around. The energy level is going up as well as the creativity in the kitchen! I am thankful that I barely work right now because if I had a full time job I would not be able to prep as much food and it would make this ten times harder! So praise God for that blessing!
The meals have been great- they are tasty and filling but we aren’t getting that satisfaction that we want and I think thats what we need to learn. Usually we would eat ice cream or have cereal later on after dinner that would give us that “satisfaction” we crave. Now we just eat and we it is good and tasty but it isn’t what we are used to. I love the challenge.
Brian and I are being very cautious with how we approach this diet everyday. It is very easy to get caught up with this type of thing and let it become and idol. We strive to give it to God each and everyday knowing that ultimately he is in control not us. Our goal is to not let the cravings and withdrawals overcome us but bring us closer to God and to each other!
The fridge is once again full and food prep is ready to begin. I have been searching for new recipes to try this week!
Here are some food pictures from the past 8 days ( I am not a photographer- sorry for the horrible quality)
Cilantro Lime Chicken with squash. My best friend Lizzy gave me the recipe!
Chicken Thai Curry over zucchini noodles. This was my favorite of the week.
3 scrambled eggs topped with mango salsa and sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes are my go-to. I eat them for dinner then save the rest for breakfast!
Carlie is over Whole30 already
Overall- the week went really well. Brian and I usually have a 30 minute conversation about all the things we wish we could eat every day but we are working through that
